It's a Great Day to be Alive

And I mean that! Today is a wonderful day to be alive. Why? Well, there are a lot of reasons. I'm healthy, happy, employed, motivated and I get to watch GLEE tonight courtesy of my fabulous DVR. It's the Madonna episode!

OK, that is all fine and dandy, but let me get to the heart of why today is such a great day...

Today I went to Whole Foods....

I bought fourteen Larabars!

Wow! I know what you are thinking... "You're right Ginny! Today is a great day for you to be alive. You lucky, lucky, Larabar loving girl!"

I love Larabars. When I discovered them last year during my introduction to paleo it was like I discovered a hidden treasure. Not only are they gluten, dairy and soy free....but they are tasty. Scary tasty. The kind of tasty that makes you want another immediately after finishing one. I guess that also makes them kind of dangerous, but what girl doesn't like a little danger in her life?

In honor of my Larabar extravaganza at Whole Foods today, I have decided to rank my top five Larabar flavors.

5. Pistachio
4. Banana Bread
3. Key Lime Pie
2. Lemon Bar
1. Cocoa Mole

Cocoa Mole is like the goddess of all Larabars. She is sweet and spicy. Oh sweet goodness.

A quick note on Larabars...

Even though they are 100% paleo that doesn't mean you should eat them all the time. I try to save mine for post workout snack time when I need some carbs in my system. They are good to have around if you are in desperate need of something paleo friendly, but don't over eat them. They still have a lot of sugar in them from the dates. I really try to watch my sugar intake with fruit so just be aware.

What is your favorite Larabar flavor?

  1. Ginny! You had me giggling - ranking your faves. Too cute. I have not tried a Larabar, but now I want to, just to see if I like them.
Oh - if I forgot the other day, congrats on your 260 deadlift! Way to go!

  2. I also love a Larabar. They are like crack! My favorite is Peanut Butter and Jelly, though I am not currently eating them due to the non-paleo peanuts. I bought 20 Larabars on Sunday. In my defense, Cole eats them, too. I try to limit myself to two a week, but it is VERY hard.
